Lady Rebels soccer team earns spot in Sweet 16

  The Fannin County Lady Rebels soccer team advanced to the Sweet 16 round in the 2024 Georgia State Soccer Championships with a win over North Cobb Christian. Fannin County hosted the Lady Eagles Thursday with the winner earning the right to advance in post season play.

Lady Rebel tennis climb to spot in Sweet 16 playoffs

The Fannin County High School Lady Rebel tennis team has advanced to the Sweet 16 of the Georgia State Tennis Championships. A first round win over North Cobb Christian Academy (NCCA) propelled the local team into Sweet 16 action this week.
Golfers and golf enthusiasts crowded the Old Toccoa Farm course Tuesday, April 16, for the Corporal Richard Gazaway Memorial Golf Tournament. The event is sponsored annually by the Fannin County Sheriff’s Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #111 as a fundraiser to support the children of law enforcement officers who have lost their lives. Seniors honored as both squads score wins over Pickens Five Fannin County High School Track and Field seniors were honored Monday, April 8, as the boys and girls squads both scored big wins over Pickens County. The events took place at the Fannin County High School football field.
All three races in the Riverwalk Run Series take participants across the iconic steel bridge in McCaysville, which now features a new surface. The Trout Trot is the next race, scheduled for April 27.

The Riverwalk Run Series kicks off its season April 27 with the 5K Trout Trot beginning at 6:30 p.m. This popular race will be followed by the Walk the Line 5K July 20 and the Bigfoot Boogie November 5.

Copper Basin’s Lady Cougar softball team hosted CSLA for a doubleheader Friday, April 5, at Copper Basin High School. The Lady Cougars’ bats came alive in both games, bashing 32 hits over the two games and sweeping CSLA 18-9 in game one and 9-1 in the nightcap.

By Mike Harper Blue Ridge High School was established in the fall of 1930, just in time to move into, along with students from the elementary grades, a brand new building as the new year began in January of 1931. At that time the high school grades spanned the 8th through 11th grades.
Ronnie Reid was awarded many citations and awards for his 38 years as clock operator. Accepting an award from Fannin County High Coach Johnny Farmer is Ronnie Reid.

By Mike Harper "He lived a simple, happy life”. These are words that have been used to describe the life of 2024 Fannin County Sports Hall of Fame inductee, Ronnie Reid. Ronnie was born in Epworth February 23, 1945, and received his early education at Epworth Elementary School.
