Seniors: Pickens meet brings win, recognitions
Seniors honored as both squads score wins over Pickens
Five Fannin County High School Track and Field seniors were honored Monday, April 8, as the boys and girls squads both scored big wins over Pickens County.
The events took place at the Fannin County High School football field.
Zechariah Prater , Carlee Holloway, Stephanie Kirk, Karter Green, and Jahir Leal were the five seniors honored.
Multiple FCHS athletes placed in the top three in their respective events, setting personal records while earning points for the team total. Turning in those outstanding performances were:
•Stephanie Kirk placed first in High Jump with a personal record;
•Annaleigh Cheatham placed third in Long Jump, first in the 100 meter dash with a personal record, and first in the 200 meter dash;
•Avery Collis placed first in Triple Jump;
•Kenslee McClure placed second in Triple Jump with a personal record;
•Adia Galloway placed first in Pole Vault;
•Marleigh Patton-Pearson placed second in Pole Vault;
•Katelyn Clark placed second in Discus with a personal record;
•Sydney German placed first in Shot Put with a personal record;
•Bridgett Allen placed second in Shot Put with a personal record;
•Lindsey Holloway placed first in the 1600 meter run, first in the 3200 meter run, and second in the 800 meter run with a personal record;
•Karli Sams placed second in the 1600 meter run and second in the 3200 meter run;
•Sydney Ford placed third in the 1600 meter with a personal record and third in the 3200 meter run;
•Halle Walton placed first in the 100 meter hurdles and second in the 300 meter hurdles;
•The Girls 4x100m relay team made up of Annaleigh Cheatham, Airianna Galloway, Ava Acker, and Carlee Holloway placed first;
•Airianna Galloway placed first in the 400 meter dash with a personal record and second in the 200 meterdash with a personal record;
•Marleigh Patton-Pearson placed second in the 400 meter dash with a personal record;
•Carlee Holloway placed first in the 300 meter hurdles;
•Ava Acker placed first in the 800 meter run;
•Jace Sanderson placed third in the 800 meter run with a personal record and second in High Jump with a personal record;
•The girls 4x400m relay team made up of Ava Acker, Carlee Holloway, Airianna Galloway, and Kensley Pickelsimer placed First;
•Aiden Jones placed third in the 1600 meter with a personal record;
•Braxton Cheatham placed first in the 100 meter dash with a personal record, first in the 400 meter dash with a personal record and first in the Long Jump with a personal record;
•Cohutta Brown placed second in the 100 meter dash with a personal record, first in the 200 meter dash, and second in the Long Jump with a personal record;
•Gage Bryan placed second in the 400 meter dash with a personal record;
•Zechariah Prater placed first in the 800m run with a personal record;
•The Boys 4x100m relay team made up of Cohutta Brown, Ricky Baker, Judah Wood, and Brayden Taylor placed first;
•The Boys 4x400m relay team made up of Braxton Cheatham, Gage Bryan, Brayden Taylor, and Zechariah Prater placed first;
•Ricky Baker placed first in the High Jump with a personal record and second in the Triple Jump with a personal record.
•Braden Taylor placed first in the Triple Jump with a personal record and second in the Pole Vault with a personal record;
•Scotty Waldrep placed first in the Pole Vault and third in the Triple Jump:
•Judah Wood placed third in the Pole Vault;
•Cooper Born placed first in Discus with a personal record and first in Shot Put with a personal record;
•Jacob Green placed second in Discus with a personal record and second in Shot Put with a personal record;
•Karter Green placed third in Discus with a personal record; and,
•Isaac Watkins placed third in Shot Put.
FCHS athletes set personal records
Several Fannin County High School Track & Field athletes competed Saturday, April 13, in the McEachern Invitational at McEachern High School. Thousands of elite athletes from over 40 different schools representing all GHSA classifications (AA through 7A) competed in this meet.
The following FCHS athletes either placed in the Top 10 in their respective event(s) or set a pesonal record at the meet:
•Karli Sams placed fifth in the 3200 meter run with a personal record time of 11:42.34. This time places her in the Top 70 in the state (all classifications A - 7A) in this event and in the Top 15 in the state for all sophomores (A - 7A);
•Kensley Pickelsimer ran a personal record time of 6:00.69 in the 1600 meter run;
•Airianna Galloway ran a personal record time of 1:04.80 in the 400 meter dash; and,
•The Boys 4x400 meter relay team made up of Braxton Cheatham, Brodey Angel, Zechariah Prater, and Lawson Sullivan placed ninth with a time of 3:34.82.
