State champs given rings

Members of the Fannin County High School 4x800 meter relay team that won the 2024 Georgia High School Association AA State Championship received their championship rings Friday night, November 15.

The rings were presented during a special ceremony prior to the start of the football Rebels first round state playoff match-up against Vidalia.

The relay team of Lindsey Holloway, Carlee Holloway, Ava Acker and Karli Sams set a school record of 9 minutes and 46 seconds, which qualified them for the national competition. Speaking for coaches Miranda Roof and Alden Falls, Coach Dr. Lucas Roof said, “We are extremely proud of these young ladies. Accomplishments like this do not happen by accident.  Accomplishments like this come from dedication, commitment, hard work, toughness, perseverance and learning how to push through pain.”

Carlee Holloway is now at Georgia Southern University, while the other three runners remain, looking for a fourth runner for this season’s competition.
