Defense shines in Fannin win

The Fannin County High School football team brought home a big 48-13 region win over Armuchee High School, Friday, October 17. The Rebels opened the game with a touchdown scoring drive. Braden Walker returned the kickoff to the 35 yard line.

Copper Basin scores 44 in third victory

The Copper Basin High School Cougars traveled five miles from the Kentucky line to Byrdstown, Tennessee, Friday night and returned home 44-18 winners over Pickett County. The game, played on a baseball field, was dominated by the Cougars.  “It was quiet and there was not a lot of energy there.

Lady Cougars dominate Polk to open tourney

The Copper Basin Lady Cougars volleyball team showed their determination and strength against Polk County Oct. 6 during the opening district tournament at home. They dominated the game and won in three sets 25-13, 25-11 and 25-17.

Fannin flag team wins twice

It was smooth sailing for the Fannin County High School flag football team at Gilmer County High School Oct. 10 as they defeated Dalton Academy 35-6 and defeated Gilmer County 28-0. “My team showed up and showed out this week, earning big wins over both Gilmer and Dalton Academy.

The Lady Rebels softball team couldn’t pass the Armuchee Lady Indians Tuesday, October 7, and took a 3-2 loss. Myla Rogers led Fannin County with two hits. The Lady Indians opened the scoring in the first after a single scoring one run. From then, both teams exchange one run.

Runners post personal bests

The Fannin County High School Rebels and Lady Rebels cross country teams competed in the Alexander/Asics Invitational at Bouckaert Farm in Fairburn, Georgia, Saturday, October 4, where over 110 teams from all classifications, A through 6A; public and private, competed.

Basin holds on for 20-19 win

With seconds to go, a dropped pass off the fingertips of a Lookout Valley receiver allowed the Copper Basin High School Cougar football team to end Senior Night October 3 as winners 20-19.

Fannin 3-0 in region

The Fannin Rebels football team handed the Gordon Central Warriors their first loss Friday, September 26, with a 42-21 region victory. After receiving the opening kickoff, the Rebels first drive ended with a Casen Bailey punt to the Warriors’ 15 yard line.

Christian Heritage escapes Fannin

The Fannin County Lady Rebels softball team took a devastating 4-5 loss to the Christian Heritage Lady Lions after a walk-off hit to score. The Lady Rebels lost despite out-hitting the Lady Lions 10 to eight. Presley Daves, McKinley Lord, and Lana Cook each collected two hits.

Copper Basin scores twice against Whitwell

The Copper Basin High School Cougar football team was able to score two touchdowns in it’s home matchup with Whitwell, but the bigger and faster Tiger team forced a loss, 49-14. The game summary is the tale of two halves. The Cougars had a solid second half.
