Golf team recognized following successful season

For the Fannin County High School Rebels golf teams, this year saw much improvement, coach Wade Woodall said.

“I couldn’t be prouder of this group of girls and guys with their success this season,” he said by email.

The Lady Rebels team won eight matches, finishing fifth in the area tournament. Their stroke scores improved as well.

“Overall, the girls made tremendous strides in not only the growth of the girls’ program, but also bringing with it success that had not been achieved in quite some time,” he said.

The Rebels achieved similar success.

The boys won five matches, and lost another two matches by just one stroke, Woodall said.

This performance represented a “vast improvement,” he said.

At the area tournament, the Rebels finished sixth and 62 strokes better than last year.

Team member Cannon Holloway was named to the Class A Division One Area Three’s All-Area team after he shot a 79.

“There was a ton of growth and success on the course,” Woodall said of the Rebels.
