Fannin County cross country teams shine at region meet

The Fannin County Rebels and Lady Rebels cross country teams traveled to Unicoi State Park in Helen, Georgia for a region meet. Both teams competed well, with one Lady Rebel qualifying for the State Championship meet in Carrollton Friday and Saturday, November 1 through 2.

Dawson wins region game against Rebels

The Fannin County Rebels football team traveled to Dawson County Friday, October 25, for a cool, wet region rumble against the Tigers. Fannin faced a slew of injuries in the North Hall game the previous Friday and the lack of depth took its toll on the Rebels.

Copper Basin defense not enough in loss

The Copper Basin Cougars traveled to Andrews High School Friday, October 25 to take on the Wildcats, in a game that at least for the first half, was played in a heavy downpour. The wet and muddy conditions definitely played a huge part in the game as the field was very sloppy.

Lady Cougars fall in region tournament

The Copper Basin Lady Cougars volleyball team recently finished their postseason district tournament as the number two seed and punched their ticket to the region tournament.

The Fannin County Rebels football team hosted the North Hall Trojans Friday, October 18, on what was a cool, crisp, Fall night for a region battle.

Lady Rebels volleyball celebrates season

The Fannin County Lady Rebels junior varsity and varsity volleyball teams held their end of season banquet at the Fannin County High School cafeteria Tuesday, October 15. Friends, Family and fans gathered to celebrate both teams as awards were given.

Special Olympics golfers compete in State Games

Five Fannin County Special Olympics athletes competed in a nine hole unified golf tournamnet in Valdosta, GA October 12.  Alex Hughes played with Union County High School unified golfer Ivie Chapman. They placed fourth.

Cougars fall to McMinn Central in double overtime

Copper Basin’s Cougars and McMinn Central’s Chargers battled for 48 minutes of football at Basin Friday night, ending regulation play tied at 14-14 and sending the game into overtime.

Rebels remain undefeated in region play

The Fannin County Rebels  were looking to remain perfect in region play as hit the road Friday, October 11, to face off in a region match against the East Hall Vikings. The Rebels did just that as they topped the Vikings 49-26. Fannin won the toss and elected to receive the ball.

Girls cross country shines

Fannin County Middle School’s Lady Rebels turned in strong performances in two recent cross country meets. The Fannin Lady Rebels scored second place finishes at both the League Championship held at Meeks Park in Blairsville and the Carney Invitational in Hayesville, North Carolina.
