The Fannin County Rebels football team hosted the North Hall Trojans Friday, October 18, on what was a cool, crisp, Fall night for a region battle.
The Rebels went into the game averaging more rush yards and pass yards than North Hall per game, but North Hall was able to play to their strengths and win the game 37-0.
The Trojans won the toss and elected to kick the ball off as Rebel Caleb Postell brought the ball out to their own 18-yard line as junior quarterback Luke Holloway led the Rebels offense out onto the field.
Two runs by powerback Treylyn Owensby put the ball at Fannin’s 26-yard line for a third and two situation.
The Rebels could not convert the third down as Holloway punted to the Trojans.
Holloway’s punt was brought back to the Trojan’s 39-yard line as North Hall’s offense took the field.
The Trojans were able to make it to Fannin’s 25-yard line before the Rebels held them with big stops by Micah O’Neal and Dalton Ross.
The Trojans kicked a field goal on fourth down to take a 3-0 lead over the Rebels with 7:36 to go in the first.
Speedster Andre Bivens brought the North Hall kick out to the Rebels 22-yard line as the Fannin County offense set up shop.
The Rebels went on the ground again with Will Mosely and Owensby splitting the carries, but the Trojan defense held them to fourth and one at the Rebels 31-yard line and forced a punt.
Holloway booted the ball to the Trojan’s 34-yard line, and one play later North Hall broke off a run to the Rebels 34-yard line before Carson Beavers got the stop.
North Hall scored a few plays later and with the good extra point, increased their lead 10-0 with 54.9 seconds to go in the first quarter.
The Rebels got the ball back, but were held to a three and out as Holloway punted back to North Hall.
O’Neal and the defensive line came up big for the Rebels forcing the explosive North Hall offense to a three and out and getting the Rebels offense the ball back at their own 47-yard line.
The Rebels were unsuccessful at moving the ball and punted back to the Trojans.
North Hall was able to move the ball on the ground and score a touchdown from three yards out as they increased their lead 17-0 after the good extra point.
The Rebels got the ball back at their own 32-yard line, but an interception later turned into a touchdown as North Hall scored from three yards out.
The field goal was good as the Rebels trailed 24-0 at halftime.
The Rebels came out to start the third and held North Hall, forcing a punt.
Both teams traded possessions in the third quarter with no one scoring.
North Hall had the ball at the Rebels 17-yard line to start the fourth and was able to run it in to increase their lead 31-0 after the field goal.
The Rebels tried to go through the air on their next drive but was unsuccessful as they turned the ball over on downs at their own 37-yard line.
North Hall punched it in from 37-yards out on the next play, and after the field goal led Fannin 37-0.
Both teams traded possessions one time the remainder of the quarter, but could not score as the North Hall Trojans won the game 37-0.
