Two persons were arrested and held without bond Thursday, March 21, accused of fentanyl trafficking and other drug related charges as the result of a month long investigation by a trio of law enforcement agencies.
Austin Wade Woody, 23, of 30 Ouida Street, Blue Ridge, and Hallie Lynn Thomason, 29, of 653 Belltown Road, Copperhill, were taken into custody at Woody’s Ouida Street address by deputies from the Fannin County Sheriff’s Office and agents from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office (ARDEO).
Both suspects face identical charges of five felonies:
•Trafficking in Morphine, Opium, Heroin or Fentanyl;
•Trafficking in Methamphetamine or Amphetamine;
•Possession of a Controlled Substance With Intent to Distribute;
•Two counts, Sale of Controlled Substance; and, one misdemeanor, Possession of Drug Related Objects.
Seized during the arrests were approximately 300 fentanyl pills, approximately 40 grams of methamphetamine, and 35 Xanax pills, with a combined street value of approximately $5,000.
Also seized were digital scales, plastic baggies, and new and used syringes.
During the course of the investigation, pills had been purchased from the suspects.
On the afternoon of March 21, law enforcement officers went to Woody’s apartment to serve a Probation Violation Arrest warrant on Woody.
A subsequent search of the apartment yielded the illegal drugs.
Also taking part in the investigation was the Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office.
