Copper Basin High School Senior Addison Hook is making big plans for his future as he signed a Letter of Intent Wednesday morning, February 1, to play football for Union College in Barbourville, Kentucky.
After enrolling at Union College, Hook will pursue a course of study leading to a Bachelor’s degree, where he must fulfill the academic requirements of the college, as well as the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics to participate in his athletic endeavors.
Union College will be providing a financial package which consists of a football scholarship, plus any additional financial aid that he qualifies for.
Hook is currently the Copper Basin Cougar’s defensive end on the football field each season, where he has earned his scholarship to Union College.
Along with Hook’s excelling achievements playing football, he also has a 3.3 GPA and plays basketball and baseball.
Hook said, “I really liked the coach and the small size and to be honest, it just reminded me of home.”
As far as what position he could play in college, Hook said “the last time I spoke with the coach, we discussed defensive end, but I’m willing to play any spot on the field that will get me time on the field.”
Hook thanked those who were pivotal along his journey, saying, “I give God all the glory because I wouldn’t be here without Him, and I give all my coaches along the way the praise on making sure I was playing with the right mindset and acting right, and also my parents for helping through this entire hectic process of recruitment and just always being my rock and also my friends for always making me work harder to be better.”
Hook’s mother, Cortney Hook, expressed how proud she and her husband are of their son. She said, “We couldn’t be more proud of Addison. We are so excited to see him play at the next level. He has played since he was five, and he has earned this.”
