Fannin businesses may be eligible for SBA loans

Georgia Governor Brian Kemp announced, Wednesday, March 18, that Georgia has received an official statewide disaster declaration from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) for small businesses affected by the COVID-19 outbreak.

Fannin County Animal Control is over capacity. The folks at Animal Control have been kind enough to house the animals for extended periods, despite being allowed to euthanize. Folks are urged to check for any lost pets and adopt new ones.

Feed Fannin cancels annual Bowls of Hope

Feed Fannin’s Bowls of Hope fundraiser, scheduled for Saturday, March 28, has been canceled. “Feed Fannin considers the safety of our many loyal supporters, volunteers and Bowls of Hope patrons and guests to be paramount,” a statement from volunteer Diane Payne read.

Fannin schools work to make sure children have food

The Fannin County School System began distributing meals to students who need them during the closure caused by COVID-19 Wednesday, March 18.  The system changed their meal delivery plan in order to make sure all children have the opportunity to get a meal Monday, March 23.

McCaysville police modify operations

The City of McCaysville Police Department has made temporary modifications to their department, including closing their office’s lobby, in response to COVID-19. “Our city, thus far, has been fortunate and has been relatively untouched by the illness,” Police Chief Michael Earley said.

The Fannin County Public Library will be closed until further notice in response to the public healthy emergency of COVID-19. Mountain Regional Library System Director Heath Lee said. “During this time, we ask that all materials currently checked out please not be returned.
