Elliot charged in Sunday night crash

Charges have now been filed against Hunter Ethan Elliott in connection with Sunday night’s crash in Blue Ridge that claimed the life of two-year-old Cohen Bryson. Those charges include homicide by vehicle in the first degree and D.U.I./Alcohol.

Fannin schools to provide meals amid COVID-19 closings

The following information has been provided by the Fannin County School System. Beginning Wednesday, March 18th, the school system will provide school meals to Fannin County children ages 1-18 at various pick-up points across the county. Students must be present to pick up the meal.

Fannin FCCLA members bring home gold medals

Seven Fannin County Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) students competed at Region Students Taking Action with Recognition (STAR) event competitions on Saturday, February 22.

Preparations continued for this year's second annual Blue Ridge Soap Box Derby as organizers visited East Fannin Elementary for a car building event. Mike Sullivan said he and  Brian Higgins visited Christie Holtman's class last week to build a derby car.

Farner man charged with attempted murder

A February 18, 2020, incident has led to the arrest of a Farner, Tennessee, man on a charge of attempted murder in the first degree. Eddie Dale Rice, 56, of Waller Road, was booked into the Polk County Adult Detention Center Friday, February 28. He was still jailed Monday morning, March 9.

City of Blue Ridge voters can now head to City Hall and cast votes for the city council post three seat vacated by Ken Gaddis. Mike Panter and Brian Higgins are facing each other to fill the spot.

Ralston, Gooch challenged

David Ralston and Steve Gooch, who represent Fannin County under the Gold Dome in Atlanta, were both challenged for re-election as qualifying ended last week for Georgia’s 2020 elections.
