Blue Ridge approves $750,000 purchase of church building

The City of Blue Ridge purchased Highland Baptist Tabernacle’s property at 631 Industrial Blvd., Blue Ridge, during a regular meeting Tuesday, March 10. Councilwoman Rhonda Haight made a motion to purchase property from Highland Baptist Tabernacle, LLC. for $750,000.

Blue Ridge election set for Tuesday

City of Blue Ridge voters can head to City Hall Tuesday, March 24, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. to cast ballots for the open post three seat. Facing off for the spot are Mike Panter and Brian Higgins.

Blue Ridge crash claims life of infant

A two-year-old infant was killed and a suspect was taken into custody as a result of a crash in Blue Ridge Sunday night, March 15. Fannin County Coroner Becky Callihan identified the child as Cohen Bryson of Rome, Georgia.

CBES plans food distribution

The regular Copper Basin Elementary School (CBES) food distribution scheduled for Thursday, March 19, will take place as usual, but at a different location. CBES Principal Janessa Nipper said food will be distributed at the Hoist House in Ducktown beginning at 4:30 p.m.

CBMC offer gets go-ahead

Polk County commissioners met in Benton Thursday, March 12, to decide if they were interested in a proposal to provide health care at Copper Basin Medical Center (CBMC).
