Polk County commissioners have decided to seek bids for ambulance services. The decision came at the conclusion of the commission’s ambulance committee meeting Tuesday, June 23.

Insurance Service Office (ISO) will not be re-evaluating Fannin County’s Public Protection Classification (PPC) until at least November of this year, rather than July as Fire Chief Larry Thomas had previously expected.

The Blue Ridge Cannery will open Tuesday, July 7 for the 2020 season by appointment only and with new COVID-19 guidelines in place. Appointments, for 90 minute increments, will be scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:30 a.m., 9:10 a.m.,11:50 a.m., and 1:30 p.m. through September 29.

Copperhill asked to help with Polk garbage costs

Polk County Executive Robby Hatcher has asked the City of Copperhill to pay for one trash haul per month. Hatcher joined members of Copperhill’s city council during a regular meeting Monday, June 15, to explain changes in the county’s garbage dumping sites and ask for help.
