Body identified as Potter

The body found in a car Thursday, June 11, has been identified as Anthony D. Potter, 54, of Old Bullen Gap Road in Blue Ridge. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) Crime Lab made the identification, which was announced Thursday, June 18, according to Investigations Sergeant J.K.

McCaysville fireworks promised to be bigger than ever

The July fireworks will be bigger than ever, swings are ready for the park, speed bumps will be replaced on Bridge Street, and the speed bumps in the Kingtown section will be left alone. These and other business items were addressed when the McCaysville City Council met in regular session June 9.

Dale Dyer dominates nine holes of golf

Dale Dyer hit the fairway with friends to play nine holes of golf Thursday, June 11. Dyer, who is 100 years old, started strong and was able to finish strong, scoring below his age. Dyer was accompanied by friends Ron Hartness, age 79, Bill Huff, age 88, and Dr. Howard Tilley, age 83.

CBHS holds graduation

Copper Basin High School hosted its 2020 graduation on the school’s football field Friday, June 12. “Congratulations guys, you made it,” Principal Tim Kidd said as he opened the ceremony.

Fannin planning for start of school year

Fannin County School System officials intend to use state guidance, local health official recommendations, and parent/guardian and system employee survey responses when finalizing plans to re-open schools for the 2020-2021 school year.
