Fannin County’s Emergency Management Agency and local leaders are asking residents to sign-up to receive local alerts and public safety messages through Nixle.

Blue Ridge council expresses opposite views on park opening

Mixed opinions over opening Blue Ridge’s downtown park were expressed at a City of Blue Ridge Council workshop Tuesday, July 7. Councilman Nathan Fitts said that he has heard outrage come from some citizens due to the fact that it is closed and that he would like to open it to the public.

Intern to take DDA inventory

The City of Blue Ridge’s Downtown Development Authority (DDA) met Monday, July 6. Chairman Cesar Martinez told of an intern from the University of North Georgia that has been recruited to work with the DDA.

Basin classes start August 10

Copper Basin schools will move forward with “full, in-person instruction” for the 2020-21 school year beginning August 10. “Our plan is to have full, in-person instruction every day for the upcoming school year,” Dr. James Jones, Director of Schools for Polk County, said.

Fannin schools start August 7

Students will have the option to return to Fannin County schools Friday, August 7, for in-person instruction, and masks will be optional for all students and personnel.
