Arp, Fogel appointed to Blue Ridge posts

Blue Ridge City Council appointed applicants to the city’s Planning Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals during a special called meeting Tuesday, October 20. Councilman Nathan Fitts appointed Mary Fogel to the Zoning Board of Appeals and Angie Arp to the Planning Commission.

Two men rescued from Blue Ridge Lake

Halloween is supposed to be a time when young and old alike turn their thoughts to candy and costumes. But this year, the night turned almost fatal for two men who had to be rescued from Blue Ridge Lake. Kevin Panter, veteran firefighter/EMT, said an emergency page went out at 10:30 p.m.

Zeta hits Fannin hard

Fannin County residents woke up to downed trees, flooding and a lack of power Thursday, October 29, as a result of Tropical Storm Zeta, which hit the coast of Louisiana as a Category 2 Hurricane before downgrading to a Tropical Storm and traveling northeast toward Fannin County.

Besides the ceremonial posting of the colors, the Flag Retirement ceremony included an explanation of the importance of properly retiring worn out United States flags by Epworth Scoutmaster David Lewis. Troop 32 scouts and honor guard members come together regularly to conduct retirement ceremonies.
