Scearce, DeWeese, Galloway win

Three locally contested political races were decided during the 2020 General Election Tuesday, November 3.

Republican Johnny Scearce will replace Earl Johnson as Post One Commissioner on the Fannin County Board of Commissioners after receiving 12,125 votes in the race. His opponent, Democrat Dixie L. Carter, received 2,290 votes.

Republican Fannin County Board of Education member Lewis DeWeese will continue to serve on the board after receiving 11,791 votes to Democrat Kathy Smyth’s 2,504.

Republican Board of Education member Chad Galloway will also continue to serve after receiving 10,708 votes to Democrat Theresa “T.C.” Dillard’s 3,702.

Republican Jamie Hensley will become the Chairman for the Fannin County Board of Commissioners following an uncontested race in the General Election.

District Attorney B. Alison Sosebee, Clerk of Superior Court Dana Chastain, Sheriff Dane Kirby, Tax Commissioner Rita Newton, Surveyor Shelly J. Bishop, Coroner Becky Callihan and Board of Education member Terry Bramlett will continue to serve in their roles following uncontested races.
