Veterans Memorial Golf Tournament to be held

By Glenn Harbison glenn@thenewsobserver.com The third annual Veterans Memorial Golf Tournament will be held this year at Butternut Creek Golf Course just outside of Blairsville. The tourney is planned Saturday, October 23. The event gets underway at 9:30 a.m. with a shotgun start.

Fannin High School baseball hosts youth camps

By Caleb Collins caleb@thenewsobserver.com The Fannin County High School (FCHS) baseball team recently held four camps to help young athletes prepare for middle school and high school level baseball.

By Caleb Collins caleb@thenewsobserver.com Copper Basin High School Class of 2021 alumnus Allie Ballew has chosen to further her academic and athletic careers by signing a scholarship to play softball at Tennessee Wesleyan University.
The Fannin County 8U All-Star baseball team recently won the Georgia Recreaction and Parks Class-C State Tournament June 23-24. The Rebels won the tournament by besting Wilcox County twice.
