The Ferst Foundation, which provides books free of charge to some of Fannin’s youngest children, received a $3,500 donation thanks to the Blues & BBQ Festival. 2022 Blues & BBQ raises more than $20,000

Donations of over $120,000 to local charities are the cornerstone of the success the annual Blues & BBQ Festival has brought to Blue Ridge and Fannin County since it began 11 years ago. Volunteers make this possible.

Stuart becomes chief

Effective January 1, 2023, Robbie Stuart will assume his new position as chief of police for the City of Blue Ridge. Stuart was sworn into position Tuesday, December 20, by Mayor Rhonda Haight.

Violet Lake part of gingerbread taking third place nationally

Violet Lake, of Fannin County, was part of a team that took third place in the National Gingerbread Competition in Asheville, North Carolina. Lake is a fourth grade student at East Fannin Elementary School and the daughter of Heather and Jimmy Lake. Lake and her team’s creation showcased Mrs.
