Fannin County School System and 4-H members came away with wheelbarrows full of honors from the Pigs on the Ridge Invitational Market Hog Show held at the Fannin County Agriculture Facility Tuesday, Febraury 10.
Fannin County participants claimed a combination of 11 Champion and Reserve Champion titles in addition to numerous awards in showmanship and weight classes in competition against students from Walker County and Lakeview Fort Oglethorpe schools.
Savannah Paige from Jefferson, Georgia, judged the event. She has been showing hogs and cattle on the state and national levels for the past 12 years, having been named the Georgia FFA Supreme Hog Showman five times and the state’s FFA Supreme Cattle Showman. She is attending Butler Community College in El Dorado, Kansas, on a livestock judging scholarship.
