Transport designed to relieve Animal Control problem

Fannin County officials took a big step to control overcrowding at Animal Control last week as they transported 20 dogs total from the Blue Ridge facility to a humane society in Florida.

Voting underway, election Tuesday in House runoff

Early voting is underway in the Board of Elections office in the Fannin County Courthouse in the January 31 Special Election Runoff to select a District 7 Representative to the Georgia House of Representatives. Early voting will end Friday, January 27, at 5 p.m.

STAR students, teachers recognized by Kiwanis

This year’s STAR students from Fannin County High School (FCHS) and Mountain Area Christian Academy (MACA) were honored by the Kiwanis Club of Blue Ridge Monday night, January 16. James Kyle was named from FCHS and Joshua Munoz from MACA.

Jacob Martinez Aguillon was held without bond after his arrest Saturday, January 14, on charges he killed two people in a crash on Highway 5.

Fannin County Chamber of Commerce members and their guests gathered Saturday night for the organization’s annual banquet. Board Chairman Suzanne Davenport opened the meeting by telling the group about some of the accomplishments recorded over the past year.
