Early voting is underway in the Board of Elections office in the Fannin County Courthouse in the January 31 Special Election Runoff to select a District 7 Representative to the Georgia House of Representatives.
Early voting will end Friday, January 27, at 5 p.m. Voters can begin casting their ballots each morning at 9 a.m., according to Election Supervisor Mary Ann Conner.
All voting precincts will be open election day, Tuesday, January 31, from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. in the race between Sheree Ralston and Johnny Chastain. They emerged as the top two vote getters from among a field of five candidates in the January 3 Special Election.
Toccoa Precinct voting on election day will be in the Jury Assembly room on the third floor of the courthouse due to the water damage to the Fannin County Senior Center over the Christmas holidays.
Conner said voters can early vote at the courthouse no matter in which precinct they are registered. However, on election day, voters must cast their ballots at their respective precinct. Only Toccoa Precinct voting will take place at the courthouse.
A sample ballot for the Special Election Runoff appears on page A2 of today’s The News Observer.
The election winner will represent Fannin, Gilmer and a portion of Dawson County in the state House.
