Blue Ridge Mayor Rhonda Haight proclaimed May 23 as National Poppy Day to honor American soldiers who died in war. Since World War I, the poppy has been a symbol of soldiers who have sacrificed their lives to protect their countries.

Mark Wills continues to make music history

Fannin County native Mark Wills is making history as a North America Country Music Association International (NACMAI) Hall of Famer. Wills was officially inducted to the Hall of Fame during the NACMAI Awards Show in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, March 15.
