Arrests: Four charged following two-month probe by agencies
Two months of investigative work by four area law enforcement agencies resulted in the arrests of four individuals on multiple charges earlier this month.
The investigation produced enough evidence for a search warrant for 71 Briar Cove Road in Morganton, according to information from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s (GBI) Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office (ARDEO).
That search turned up trafficking amounts of methamphetamine, fentanyl, marijuana, guns and a large amount of U.S. currency, all of which was confiscated. Arrested were:
•Rebbeca Elizabeth Peeler, 39, of 71 Briar Cove Road, Morganton. She was charged with Marijuana Possession Less Than One Ounce, Possession and Use of Drug Related Objects, Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance, Possession of a Firearm or Knife During Commission of or Attempt to Commit Certain Crimes, Possession of Methamphetamine, Receipt, Possession or Transportation of Firearm by a Convicted Felon or Felony First, and Sale of Methamphetamine.
•David Christopher Newton, 47, 68 Briar Cove Road, Morganton. He was charged with Marijuana Possession Less Than One Ounce; Possession and Use of Drug Related Objects; Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance; Possession of Methamphetamine, and Sale of Methamphetamine.
•Corey Lyne Messer, 33, 148 Second Street, Copperhill. He was charged with Marijuana Possession Less Than One Ounce; Possession and Use of Drug Related Objects, Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance, Possession of a Firearm or Knife During Commission of or Attempt to Commit Certain Crimes, Possession of Methamphetamine, and Receipt, Possession or Transportation of Firearm by a Convicted Felon or Felony First.
•Mcaylah Logan Geisler, 29, 57 Dawgs Drive, Mineral Bluff. She was charged with Marijuana Possession Less Than One Ounce; Possession and Use of Drug Related Objects, Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance, Possession of a Firearm or Knife During Commission of or Attempt to Commit Certain Crimes, and Possession of Methamphetamine.
All the suspects were held without bond following their arrests Friday, May 2.
Taking part in the investigation along with the ARDEO were the sheriff’s offices of Fannin, Gilmer and Union counties.
ARDEO described the arrests as the results of these law enforcement agencies, located up and down the Highway 515 corridor, working together to fight the drug problem, which so often crosses county lines.
