    “Being from a small place doesn’t make your dreams small,” Holly Smith said as she encouraged Copper Basin High School (CBHS) graduates.

    Smith, principal at CBHS, talked of the school family when she spoke at the graduation ceremony Thursday, May 15, on the school’s football field.

    She reflected on the class, their accomplishments, and what they had done for each other. That reflection included remembering, “Teachers who knew you by heart.”

    Smith told the graduates they would always have a place at CBHS.

    Looking back on the year, Salutatorian Carder Lance told his classmates that “random moments become the ones you miss the most,” and they should be remembered over the years.

    Warning that “progress doesn’t always look perfect,” Lance encouraged graduates to “lock in your next chapter of life.”

    Valedictorian Anna Ballew said of the graduating class, “We came in as strangers and left as something more. We made it here not by luck, but by working together as a family.”
