School board recognizes accomplishments

The accomplishments of the students involved in several Fannin County High School clubs were recognized during the Board of Education’s meeting Thursday, April 10.

Legendary college football coach Mark Richt paid a visit to the Blue Ridge Mountains Tuesday, April 22, to help the 515 Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) raise funds for Area Ambassador Morgan Holt.

Chamber promotes environmental efforts

Conservation is important to the Fannin County Chamber of Commerce, and President Christie Gribble is dedicated to  promoting initiatives to support the area’s environment. A testament of that dedication is the chamber’s new Commitment to Conservation initiative.
She explained there is no one on staff to enforce the rule and mentioned the cost to the county for mailing out decals.

Mobile home decals won’t be required

Mobile home decals will not be required next year after the Fannin County Board of Commissioners voted to move forward with a resolution eliminating the rule. The vote was made during their Tuesday, April 22, meeting.

5-hour standoff ends peacefully

A standoff that lasted five hours came to a peaceful end when Sergeant Scott Galloway of the Fannin County Sheriff’s Office convinced the suspect to surrender.
