Forest Service wants comments on camping rules

Officials of the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest are proposing to limit the number of days camping is permited within the forest and they are accepting public comments on the idea, according to a statement issued by Forest Supervisor Edward Hunter.

Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Commander Paul Hunter shows off the M1 Garand rifle the chapter is raffling to raise money. A .45 caliber Rock Island pistol is also being raffled. The DAV purchased both guns from McCaysville Drug & Gun. Chances to win the guns can be purchased at the veterans cookout Thursday.

Vets plan cookout Thursday

Everyone is invited to a cookout at the Fannin County Veterans Museum Thursday, July 29, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Many local veterans organizations will be participating in the cookout, which will include free hot dogs and T-shirts for sale.

Meals free for Fannin students

 The 2021-2022 school year begins Friday, July 30, for Fannin County students, so there are some things that parents or guardians need to know.  There will be no cost to students for school breakfast or lunches for the 2021-2022 school year.

Changes likely for Fannin tax bills

Property assessments will weigh heavily in the final determination if individual 2021 Fannin County tax bills go up, down or stay the same this year.  But both Fannin County and the county board of education are anticipating more revenue based on their anticipated tax millage rates.
