Stop by Fannin County Animal Control to play with the dogs there or to adopt. All dogs taken to Animal Control are housed at the facility until being reclaimed or adopted. This past week, 11 dogs were taken in; one was adopted, and one was reclaimed.
The Humane Society of Blue Ridge cat of the week is Vicki. She is a one-year-old tuxedo cat who is always dressed to the nines. Vicki is very playful and her toy of choice is a ping pong ball!! She is shy when she first meets you, but she becomes quite loving once she feels comfortable with you. Vicki is spayed, microchipped and current on her vaccinations. Contact the Adoption Center at 706-432-6357 for more information about this spiffy girl. She is ready to become part of your family.

Earley re-elected to three-year GOHS post

By Glenn Harbison glenn@thenewsobserver.com McCaysville Police Chief Mike Earley will again serve as assistant coordinator of the Appalachian Trail Traffic Enforcement Network of the Georgia Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS).

17,000 Volunteer Hours and Counting

The Humane Society of Blue Ridge cat of the week is Willow. She is an eight-month-old tabby who is always happy to greet new people. Willow is perky, energetic, curious and playful! Although she is not a huge fan of fellow felines, she has learned to be nice to them and live in harmony.
