An investigation that spanned several months, a traffic stop, and the subsequent search of a residence on Old Salem Road has resulted in the arrests of two Fannin County residents, and the seizure of over three-quarters of a kilo of methamphetamine, other assorted drugs, and a little over $4,000 in cash.
The probe was a combined effort of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office (ARDEO), and the Fannin County and Gilmer County sheriff’s offices.
Jailed and held without bond in the Fannin County Detention Center are Terry Gene Kendall, 62, of 1097 Old Salem Road, Mineral Bluff, and Haley Nicole Green, 23, of 55 Thrasher Drive Blue Ridge, according to warrants on file at the Fannin County Sheriff’s Office.
As of Friday at noon, Kendall has been charged with eight felonies and two misdemeanors and Green faces four felonies and one misdemeanor. Among the charges against both were allegations of various drug sales.
A traffic stop was conducted by Corporal Dustin Carder of the Fannin County Sheriff’s Office at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 4. That stop, on the vehicle the suspects were in, occurred at the intersection of Davis Road and Highway 5, just north of Blue Ridge.
During that stop, 20 grams of methamphetamine and 60 Xanax tablets were discovered.
A search warrant was subsequently served later that afternoon at Kendall’s Old Salem Road home. During that search, law enforcement officers discovered 700 grams of methamphetamine. This amount, combined with the amount from the traffic stop and other smaller amounts involved during the investigation brought the total amount of methamphetamine to approximately 800 grams. A kilo is 1,000 grams.
As a result of the investigation and traffic stop, Green is charged with four felonies;
•Possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine;
•Possession of a controlled substance, THC;
•Possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, Xanax;
•Sell of methamphetamine: and one misdemeanor charge of possession of drug-related objects.
