CBES to host art festival

Copper Basin Elementary School will be hosting the Nillie Bipper Art and Craft Festival, Saturday, November 2, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday, November 3, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., at 266 Cougar Drive in Copperhill, Tennessee. Patrons can expect free admission, door prizes, shopping and food.

Two charged with meth trafficking

A routine traffic stop Saturday night, October 12, resulted in drug trafficking and other charges against two individuals. Daryl Gene Ankney, 37, of Chestnut Gap Road, Blue Ridge, and Krystal Ann Pierce, 31, homeless, Morganton, are both charged with drug trafficking in methamphetamine.

Safe zones slated Oct. 31

Fannin and Polk County trick-or-treaters have the opportunity to attend one of the three Halloween safe zones offered October 31. The Halloween safe zone candy walk in McCaysville/Copperhill will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. in McCaysville/Copperhill and will take place rain or shine.

Water in Bluebird to be shut off

The Fannin County Water Authority will officially turn water off in the Bluebird project area Thursday, October 31. This decision came during the authority’s regular meeting Wednesday, October 16.

Literacy night held at East Fannin

East Fannin Elementary School held their first literacy event on the school’s campus Wednesday, October 16.  “We did a math night last year and we’ll do one this year, but this is our first literacy night,” Academic Coach Renee Carder said.
