“I’m here to defend my men,” said Polk County Sheriff Steve Ross at the City of Copperhill’s regular Board of Alderman meeting October 21.

Eaton’s mission fights euthanasia

“My favorite kind of dog is the underdog. ... They can not be too bad in my world,” said Jan Eaton, October’s Hometown Hero. Eaton is a director of Tri State Pet Rescue and has been involved in dog rescue work for about 20 years. Eaton explained the mission of Tri State Pet Rescue.

It’s time for the Ocoee Whitewater Center (OWC) building to switch to winter hours. November 1 marks the first day the building will be closed, and it will remain closed until March 31, 2020.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the Fannin County Health Department is offering free breast exams to the women of the community, October 30, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., at the county’s health department located at 95 Ouida Street in Blue Ridge.

Dr. Zager retires after 40 years of service

Dr . Michael Zager has served the animal population across the tri-state area for 40 years, and now he is announcing his retirement. Zager joined Ocoee Animal Hospital in 1979 and since then his name has become well known in countless households.

Adopt A Pet

In the past week, Fannin County Animal Control officers brought in five dogs. Three dogs were reclaimed by their owners, one went to K-9 rescue and one went to New Life Rescue.
