Adopt A Pet

In the past week, officers brought in three dogs. One dog was reclaimed, one was adopted, one went to the Humane Society of Blue Ridge and one went to Windsor Humane Society.  Animal Control Officer JR Cornett said they are in need of volunteers to walk the dogs this fall and winter season.
Kenneth Baar, from Morganton, Georgia, and Bradenton, Florida, was presented a Quilt of Valor by members of the Misty Mountain Quilter’s Guild October 13. Baar served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Philippines and remained on active duty until 1946.

Six individuals with Cherokee County, North Carolina, addresses have been charged by Polk County deputies after being discovered on the old Ducktown Elementary School property.

The Fannin County High School Band earned Grand Champion at the Lake Lanier Tournament of Bands at Chestatee High School Saturday, October 5.  “The Fannin County Band has had an outstanding competitive season,” Band Director Scott Barnstead said.

Lawsuit names Polk board, individuals

With no word from an investigation at the root of  their suspension, two Copper Basin Elementary School (CBES) employees have sued the school board and several individuals.
