Farm Bureau celebration lauds importance of farmers

Georgia farmers work hard to provide food and other goods to consumers.  As a way to acknowledge their efforts, Fannin County Farm Bureau is celebrating Farm-City Week November 22 through 28 with refreshments in their office for anyone who stops by.

Ducktown decides against grant

Officials with the City of Ducktown, Tennessee, voted to revoke a resolution passed at a previous meeting that would see an $829,000 sidewalk installed from the city to a nearby trailhead.

Retired Fannin County School System Superintendent Morgan Arp was named Fannin County School System’s “Pioneer in Education” at Pioneer Regional Service Agency (RESA)’s annual “Pioneers in Education” awards ceremony Friday, November 1.

McCaysville voters okay Sunday alcohol sales, re-elect Seabolt

McCaysville voters gave the okay to beer and wine sales on Sundays and returned a trio of incumbents back to their city council posts. The decisions came in the city’s election Tuesday, November 5. By a narrow, three vote margin of 90 to 87, voters approved Sunday alcohol sales between 12:30 p.m.

Sacrifices remembered at annual ceremony

Veterans, their families and community members gathered at Veterans Memorial Park on Old Highway 76 for a memorial service to honor the nation’s service men and women Saturday, November 9.
