Holiday sale in progress

The Blue Ridge Mountains Arts Association’s Holiday Show & Sale and the Southern Appalachian Artist Guild (SAAG) Marvelous Miniatures exhibit is underway at The Art Center located at 420 West Main St in Blue Ridge.  The show opened November 16 and will remain open through January 4.

Love Light ceremony planned

The Fannin Regional Hospital (FRH) Auxiliary will hold a service of memory and honor during the annual lighting of their Love Light Tree Tuesday, December 3 at 5 p.m. The event will take place in the main lobby of Fannin Regional Hospital and Faith Presbyterian Church’s Dr.

Animal Control looking for donated dog houses

Have an extra dog house lying around the yard?  Fannin County Animal Control is looking for folks who want to donate dog houses they no longer use, so they can give them to families in need.

Fannin County School System Director of Achievement Sarah Rigdon told the Fannin County Board of Education, during a meeting Thursday, November 14, that most of the school district’s College & Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI) scores decreased this year.

24-year-old killed in 515 crash

A 24-year-old man was killed in a single vehicle crash Friday morning, November 15, on Highway 515 East of Morganton. Fannin County Coroner Becky Callihan identified the victim as Austin Lee Gilleland of a Blairsville address. She said she pronounced him dead at the scene.

80 of 953 fire hydrants out of service

Fannin County Fire Chief Larry Thomas says as many as 80 out of 953 fire hydrants across the county may be out of service. Problems vary from minor issues that only take minutes to fix to total replacements.
