Planning is underway for “Christmas in Ducktown” Saturday, December 7.
The celebration kicks off at 6 p.m. with a parade followed by a tree lighting ceremony and fireworks.
Elementary students will be performing on a stage in front of City Hall and Chelsea Stuart will sing during the lighting of the tree. Folks can have photos taken with Santa, view a nativity scene and even decorate gingerbread cookies to take home.
Enjoy hot cider, cookies, popcorn, hot chocolate, glow sticks, cotton candy, coffee and goodie bags.
Event organizer Tweetsie Hickey said local businesses are sponsoring the celebration, including Glenn Springs Holdings, Peoples Bank of East Tennessee, New Zion Baptist Church, Cougar Stow and Go, Tammy’s Ice Cream, Life Care Center of Copper Basin, Attorney Laura Crawford, Shoal Creek Baptist Church, PruittHealth, Copper Basin Federal Credit Union, Copper Basin Schools’ cafeteria ladies, and Fish On Bait and Tackle.
Christmas in Ducktown shirts are being sold to help raise funds. Choose long sleeve or short sleeve in red, white or black. Long sleeved shirts cost $20 for adult sizes and $16 for youth sizes. Short sleeved shirts cost $16 for adult sizes and $12 for youth. Pick up an order form from Fish On Bait and Tackle in Ducktown.
