Water authority okays contract, hears well problem

Fannin County Water Authority awarded T. Stanco a two year contract for SPLOST and general fund projects Wednesday, November 13. Carter & Sloop Engineer Kurt McCord said, “You’ve got a contractor on board to do the work, and these are the prices that he’s agreed to do the work.

Light Up coming to Blue Ridge

The annual Light Up Blue Ridge events will kick off November 29 with Blue Friday. The popular day is one of shopping and town-wide entertainment.  Santa will arrive on the train, Saturday, November 30, around 11:45 a.m. and will visit with children in the downtown park from 12:30 p.m.

Fannin CLC plans concert fundraiser

The Fannin Christian Learning Center (CLC) is presenting its 11th Annual Fannin CLC Christmas Concert fundraiser December 6 at 6 p.m.  The concert will be hosted by the First Baptist of McCaysville/Copperhill located at 104 Toccoa Ave in McCaysville.

GOHS honors Earley, McCaysville efforts

McCaysville Police Chief Michael Earley and his officers have been honored by the Georgia Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS). The award recognized the department, “For your dedication and loyal support to the enforcement of distracted driving.

Feed Fannin receives $1,500 Starbucks award

Feed Fannin was awarded the Starbucks Foundation Neighborhood Grant worth $1,500. Store manager Jonathan Barnes nominated the non-profit group dedicated to feeding those in need in Fannin County while attending a Starbucks meeting in Chicago.

Family Connection plans Tour of Homes fundraiser

Fannin County Family Connection’s Christmas Tour of Homes fundraiser is Sunday, December 8, from 1 to 6 p.m. Attendees will be able to tour six homes in the area, from an “uptown downtown apartment” to a classic home with an Italian vibe, to three lakeside retreats.

Good Samaritans plan annual meal

The Good Samaritans of Fannin County invite everyone to dinner on Thanksgiving Day.  The annual Community Thanksgiving Open Table is November 28 from 12 noon to 4 p.m. at the Fannin County High School cafeteria. Organizers say all are welcome to share a meal of smoked turkey and all the fixin’s.
