Johnston, Silva to be wed in March

Heather Johnston, daughter of Tuesday Meissner and David Johnston, and granddaughter of Donna Johnston, will wed Zachary Silva, son of Vania and Zacarias Silva, March 28, 2020, at the Palms Hotel and Spa in Miami, Florida. Heather graduated Salutatorian of Fannin County High School in 2013.

Craddock Center announces performances

Songs & Stories 2020 at The Craddock Center in Cherry Log, Georgia is the place to be on Saturday, January 25, at 3:00 p.m.   The Craddock Center will present two performances for this year’s Songs & Stories. Gopher Broke and Carol Cain, as Rosie the Riveter, will perform.

Throughout 2019, Fannin County Animal Control took in 384 dogs. Owners reclaimed 142 dogs and 38 were adopted.

Erroneous late fee charged

Around 70 people on the City of Copperhill’s Water and Sewer system were unintentionally charged a late fee on their December 31, 2019 bill. City Clerk Amber Brooks said that every customer who paid their bill on December 10 was charged with the late fee.

Fannin feels Knoxville earthquake

Numerous people reported feeling the ground shake in and around Fannin County at approximately 2:15 p.m., Monday, January 20. The United States Geological Survey (USGS) confirmed there was a 3.8 earthquake outside of Knoxville, about one mile from Fincastle, Tennessee.

Overtime approved, code officer named in Copperhill

Paid over-time was approved for City of Copperhill employees and Jacob Monteith was appointed as the city’s code enforcer during a called meeting Monday, January 13. Mayor Kathy Stewart said the city is now “financially able” to begin paying employees overtime instead of comp time.
