Jones named CEO at Fannin Regional

Fannin Regional Hospital announced that Jason Jones, RN, MBA, was named Chief Executive Officer of the hospital, effective immediately. Jason has served as interim CEO since July of 2019.  Jones brings more than two decades of health care experience to his role as CEO of Fannin Regional.

The North Georgia Autism Foundation (NGAF) held the grand opening of their first micro-business, an art gallery, to employ individuals disabilities, January 16. The NGAF Art Gallery, located at 11 Overview Dr.

Retired Mountain Education Charter High School Counselor Chris Martinez has been named Appalachian Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA)’s 2020 Volunteer of the Year.
Blue Ridge Community Theater held a 2020 Season Expo in which the community was invited to come and learn of all the theater has to offer Saturday, January 11. Directors from this year’s showings sat on stage and told of their productions. Sarah Shelton told of the upcoming Sunny D Children’s Theater’s production of “Alice in Wonderland” that she is directing.

The folks and dogs at Fannin County Animal Control invite everyone to come to the facility and visit with the dogs. In the past week, officers brought in five dogs with five reclaimed, one going to Homeward Bound Pet Rescue and two going to Doggone Rescue.

Unemployment rate hits all-time low

Northwest Georgia saw the lowest unemployment rate in the region’s history in November, according to Georgia Labor Commissioner Mark Butler. “Georgia had a record number of jobs, employment and total individuals in our workforce,” Butler said.

Monteith named, Copperhill sidewalk ordinance tabled

Copperhill has a new code enforcer, effective February 6. The Board of Alderman agreed to give Jacob Monteith additional hours while remaining a part-time position of no more than 30 hours and named him as the city’s new code enforcer.
