Overtime approved, code officer named in Copperhill

Paid over-time was approved for City of Copperhill employees and Jacob Monteith was appointed as the city’s code enforcer during a called meeting Monday, January 13.

Mayor Kathy Stewart said the city is now “financially able” to begin paying employees overtime instead of comp time. She said employees should take all remaining comp time by May 28 or 50% will be payed out after that date.

Jacob Monteith will begin work as the city’s code enforcer“ as soon as possible.”

Stewart proposed the ideas that the pay period should now end Thursdays at 11 a.m., and employees should receive checks later that afternoon. Alderman Scott Brooks agreed as did Alderman Tara Akins as long as the employees use their time cards. Alderman Bill Standridge and Vice Mayor Ray Tanner were absent.

In other action, the city agreed to receive more bids for the office upgrades and have an advertisement run in the “paper.” Bidding is allowed until Friday, February 14, and will be decided upon at their regular meeting February 17.
