The Fannin County Young Farmer’s Association recognized several individuals at the organization’s annual banquet Friday night, February 7. Young farmer and high school senior Layne Epperson was recognized as a valuable asset and was awarded a 2020 membership to the Fannin County Young Farmer’s Association as well as a t-shirt. Presenting the shirt is 2019 Secretary Theresa Wollschlager.

The following events will happen in February at the Fannin County Public Library: •Storytime at the Library, Tuesday, February 4, 11, 18 and 25, at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Their Youth Services Specialist, Catherine Burr, will be having story times on Tuesdays at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Calling all military branches, veteran service organizations, first responders and civilians to attend the Fifth Annual Military Ball Saturday, March 14, and celebrate The Navy Seabees’ 78th birthday. The event will be held at The Ridges Resort in Hiawassee, Georgia.

Adopt A Pet

The staff and dogs at Animal Control urge everyone to consider adopting as their facility has reached capacity. In the past week, officers brought in five dogs with three reclaimed and one going to Doggone Rescue.

Vendor ordinance amended, shield arrives

McCaysville city officials discussed an amendment to the vendor ordinance which would allow street preachers and other non-profit type groups to hand out information for free.
