Basin hospital sold to Ducktown

By Bobbi Pippin Polk County commissioners have agreed to sell Copper Basin Medical Center to the City of Ducktown for $600,000. Going into the Tuesday, February 20, commission meeting, Polk County owned three-fourths of the hospital and the other fourth was owned by Ducktown.

Special to The News Observer --- Spreading awareness with the theme of “Love Shouldn’t Hurt” set the stage for the North Georgia Mountain Crisis Network (NGMCN) Inaugural Love, Honor, Cherish Gala.  The gala, held at The Art Center in Blue Ridge February 10, raised over $30,000.

The long awaited return of a swimming pool to Fannin County is a step closer with Eddie O’Neal’s prediction the new facility on Gray Street might open earlier than expected.

Members of Polk County’s Industrial and Economic Development Board (IED Board) have agreed to continue negotiations with Food City over a Payment in Lieu of Taxes (PILOT) program, a tax abatement, for a new grocery store at the intersection of highways 64 and 411.
