The Fannin County Board of Education attended their Spring 2024 local board training on Tuesday, February 27th.
Every semester, the board of education members chose to take the entire day to attend training and visit the schools. Chief Academic Officer, Lucas Roof states, “They choose to do this because they truly enjoy being around the school employees and the students.”
This semester the board of education members visited all three elementary schools, West Fannin Elementary School, Blue Ridge Elementary School, and East Fannin Elementary School. They were able to visit with students, teachers, and administrators at each school during their trip.
During the visit at West Fannin Elementary School, a few students took the time to give the board of education members a tour around the school. They visited several different classroom s for different grade levels to see what the students were learning that day.
Some students were learning fractions, while some were learning phonics, and some were working on their listening skills and physical activity with a dance. The board of education members loved seeing the children’s eyes light up at new visitors in the classroom.
Board members also received training on multiple different topics such as finances, facilities, communicating the school system message, and planning for boards of education.
Roof does an excellent job organizing this local board training each semester to ensure our board of education members remain an Exemplary Board.
