Zoie Hatcher was honored by both the Polk County commission and State Representative Dan Howell (R-Cleveland) during the commission meeting Thursday, May 23.
Hatcher, a member of the FFA Chapter at Polk County High School, was the Tennessee State Star – the state champion – in agribusiness competition.
Resolutions passed by both the Polk commission and Tennessee House of Representatives honored Hatcher for her hard work, determination, and success story.
Hatcher owns her own business, H-H-H Farm Zoie’s Goat Milk Soap, and works on her family’s 200 acre diversified farm with her parents. H-H-H Farm, Hatcher Family Farm, has a beef cattle and poultry operation.
Hatcher added a herd of goats to the family’s growing farm a few years ago. As the herd grew, she was faced with the obstacle of finding a way to financially sustain the herd. Young Hatcher knew she was going to have to think quickly, so she asked for books on soap making for Christmas. Those books and lots of research led Hatcher to creating the ideal goat milk soap that she turned into a business in 2020.
Hatcher’s responsibilities for her business include creating her goat milk soap, marketing, assisting customers with their orders, and distributing her products. Additionally, Zoie is responsible for keeping track of her inventory, income, and expenses for her business.
In her FFA chapter, she served as the 2023-2024 chapter president, a member of the Land Evaluation team, Livestock Evaluation team, and Quiz Bowl team.
In presenting the state resolution, Howell told her, “You are now a part of Tennessee history.”
