The Blue Ridge Housing Authority (BRHA) is facing accusations of violating Georgia’s Open Records Act after denying a Fannin County resident access to requested documents due to a disputed policy on pick-up times.

Impact100 Fannin donates $160,000 to local causes

Impact100 Fannin recently donated a total of $160,000 to local non-profit organizations. Fannin County Volunteer Fire and Rescue received $100,000; Feed Fannin received $30,000, and the University of North Georgia Research Foundation was awarded $30,000.

The Fannin County Public Library offers a unique chance for children to practice reading in “a low-stress environment.” The Book Buddies with Calder Reading Dog Program is designed for children four and up and takes place the third Thursday of each month.

David Haight and Blue Ridge Mayor Rhonda Haight have dropped their lawsuits against city council members Angie Arp, Bill Bivins, Jack Taylor and the city. Motions were filed in each case by their attorney, Kurt R. Hilbert of Chambers, Adams, Backer and Kaufman, LLC.

Improvements, cash flow topics at FCDA meet

Members of the Fannin County Development Authority (FCDA) gathered Wednesday, October 16, at the newly renovated Whitepath building to discuss ongoing projects and take a tour of the facility.
Dale Greene, co-coordinator of Toys for Tots of Fannin County, along with Jeff Young, owner of Grumpy Old Men Brewing, accepted a $1,900 from Nam Knights Motorcycle Club members. The club raised the money on a ride through Fannin County. Grumpy Old Men is a regular supporter of Toys for tots, and will host its annual fundraiser November 29.

Toys for Tots of Fannin County received a financial boost recently when the Nam Knights Motorcycle Club presented a check for $1,900. Dale Greene, co-coordinator for Toys for Tots, and Jeff Young, owner of Grumpy Old Men Brewing, accepted the check from several club members.

Two weeks after graduating from West Fannin High School in June of 1973, John McClure left his hometown of Blue Ridge and joined the Army, a decision that would take him around the world. McClure initially enlisted after heading to a recruiting station in Cleveland, Tennessee.
