Ceremony welcomes family of Magistrate Court officers

Fannin County Chief Magistrate Judge Brian Jones called swearing in ceremonies last Friday “welcoming a new family” to his office. He said he arranged the special event because, “It’s a great honor to be sworn into the court system.

Grassy Creek fire station repaired; Hatcher hurt in fall

Copper Basin Fire Department (CBFD) Station 5 received a much needed cleaning and basic repairs last week, but without County Executive Robby Hatcher suffered a serious fall in the process.

Copperhill leaders take office, Hatcher urges cooperation

“Let’s make some progress these next four years,” Greg Barker said after being sworn in as the new mayor of Copperhill last week. Barker was joined by the city’s four new aldermen for a ceremony Monday, December 2, welcoming them to their official duties.

Geyer sentenced for killing dog in front of children

Charles Ray Geyer, who was accused of shooting a dog in front of two minor children, has been told to leave Fannin County. District Attorney Frank Wood said last week Geyer had agreed to plead guilty as part of an agreement that banishes him from Fannin County.
