Polk County commissioners have agreed with the recommendation of the county Beer Board and extended beer sale hours.
Beer can now be sold Monday through Sunday between the hours of 6 a.m. and 3 a.m. the following day, according to a unanimously passed resolution.
Commissioner John Pippenger, who is also the chairman of the Beer Board, presented the plan to the commissioners. He explained how beer sale hours conflict with sale hours of other alcoholic beverages, both package and by the drink, and also with some city hours governing beer sales.
He said the Beer Board voted unanimously to recommend the change.
The resolution approving the change stipulated that all other state, federal and local regulations must still be followed.
The new hours took affect as soon as the resolution was signed by County Executive Robby Hatcher, which has taken place
Pippenger abstained from voting because of his Beer Board post, and Commissioner Shane Bowman was absent.
