No plans, no decision on development

No plans have been submitted regarding a much talked about development at the corner of West First Street and Cook Street in Blue Ridge, but that did not stop discussion over possible concerns at the city council meeting Tuesday, September 21.

Adopt A Pet

Fall in love with one of the dogs at Fannin County Animal Control and adopt this season. All dogs taken to Animal Control are housed at the facility until being reclaimed or adopted. This past week, five dogs were taken in; two were adoped, and two were reclaimed.

Parker named top teacher

Blue Ridge Elementary School (BRES) Media Specialist Chris Parker is the county-wide 2023 Teacher of the Year. The announcement was made after each nominee from the county’s schools were recognized during the annual Teacher of the Year Banquet Tuesday, September 14.

The News Observer has sent a survey containing six questions to the 13 candidates for the six City of Blue Ridge offices up for grabs in the November 2 election. The results of that survey will be published in the September 29 issue of the newspaper.

A day for veterans

Three World War II veterans and Blue Ridge Assisted Living residents seized an opportunity to take flight in a restored World War II era biplane Tuesday, September 14. The flights were made possible by the non-profit organization Dream Flights as part of their Operation September Freedom.
