Advance voting starts Oct. 11

Advance voting in the Blue Ridge City Election will commence Monday, October 11.

City residents who are registered to vote in the city may go to city hall at 480 West First Street between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. to cast their votes for mayor and the five council seats.

Voting days will include Saturday, October 16, and Saturday, October 23.

Advance voting will end Friday, October 29, at 5 p.m.

Absentee ballots will also be available during these times.

This election only, Posts 1, 3 and 5 will be for two-year terms in order to establish staggered terms. They will return to four-year terms in a 2023 election.

Those in the running include Donna Whitener (incumbent) and Rhonda Haight (Post 2 incumbent) for mayor; Harold Herndon (incumbent) and Jack Taylor for Post 1; Mike Panter (Post 3 incumbent) and Angie Arp for Post 2; Brian Higgins and Christy Kay for Post 3; Richard Arnold, Dr. William Whaley and Jacqueline Kiker-Brown for Post 4; and, Nathan Fitts (incumbent) and Bill Bivins for Post 5.

The General Election will be Tuesday, November 2, from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. at city hall.
