Many dogs at Animal Control have been there for months, waiting for a hero to come and swoop them up. Why not be the hero to one of those dogs? In the past week, officers brought in four dogs with one reclaimed, one going to the Humane Society of Blue Ridge and one going to Katz and Dogs Rescue.

DDA wants special tax, paid parking

In a joint meeting with the Blue Ridge City Council, the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) discussed special taxes in the Central Business District (CBD) and paid parking as possible options for raising funds to support the goals and projects the Authority and the Council agree upon.

“In March of next year I will qualify for re-election of the Georgia House of Representatives,” announced David Ralston, Speaker of the House of Representatives for the State of Georgia.  Ralston represents District 7, which includes Fannin, Gilmer and a part of Dawson County.

BUDGET ANNOUNCED, BOARD APPROVES BUS PURCHASE

The Fannin County School System officially set their Fiscal Year 2020 Budget during a Board of Education meeting Thursday, September 12. The budget lists total estimated revenues at $35,950,756.26 for the General Fund, $5,984,590.75 for the Capital Projects Fund and $4,866,704.

NOAH SIMS VOTED OFF MASTERCHEF AFTER MAKING TOP FOUR

The MasterChef Season 10 TV show contestant hailing from Epworth, Georgia, Noah Sims, reached the top four and made it to the show’s semi-finals in England.  Sims was voted off, narrowly missing a spot in the MasterChef finale, after the judges told him he overcooked his mushroom risotto.
