Talk of GSA club at Fannin High School draws opinions

A group of Fannin County High School students is reported to be in the working stages of creating a Gay Straight Alliance (GSA) club at the high school.  However, Principal Erik Cioffi said he has not been officially approached to create the club.

Hatcher needs Christmas names, toys

Polk County Executive Robby Hatcher is working to build on a generous donation of toys to make sure children in need get something from Santa Claus this year. Hatcher said at the Polk County Commission meeting Thursday, September 26, he has received a large pallet of toys.

Oct. 5 ridge ride to benefit children

The Fannin County Shop with a Cop program is sponsoring its second, semi-annual Riding the Ridges for a Santa “Cause” this Saturday, October 5. Jeep owners are being invited to sign up for a day of food, prizes and a ride through the ever changing scenery along mountain back roads.

PruittHealth sponsors free Fall Festival Saturday, Oct. 5

PruittHealth of Blue Ridge is sponsoring a free Fall Festival Saturday, October 5, at the nursing home on Ouida Street in Blue Ridge. The event will include hot dogs, cotton candy, snow cones and popcorn. There will also be a bounce house, slide, bungee pull and games with prizes.

New bathroom funded, 5G discussed

The Fannin County Board of Commissioners agreed to demolish and rebuild the restrooms at Ron Henry Horseshoe Bend Park. The decision came at the request of Recreation Director Eddie O’Neal during the board’s regular meeting Tuesday, September 24.
